Hand Luggage Beauty: My Long Haul Must Haves

Hand Luggage Beauty: My Long Haul Must Haves

Here's it is, the second part of my mini travel series. If you haven't seen my first post all about what I pack in my hand luggage for a long haul flight, make sure you check that out too. In that post, I promised that I would talk about my beauty must-haves in a second blog post - so here it is. I left beauty as a separate blog post as it's my favourite thing to talk about and I also take a lot of beauty with me on the plane.

This post is mainly going to be focussing on long-haul flying. For short haul, I wouldn't take anywhere near as much as I do here. Being up in the air for 10+ hours is a long time to be sat so close to other people, with the dry air circulating around the cabin. I use all these bits to help me feel fresher and a less like a dried prune for landing.

My absolute must for a long haul flight is a toothbrush and toothpaste. Adding in the time at the airport and the flight, it's a long time to go without brushing your teeth. Not to mention, sometimes needing to brush away the taste of the weird plane food. Another must is deodorant, it's just polite to not be stinking up the plane. It also makes you feel so much better to just feel slightly clean and fresh.

For me, I never wear makeup when I'm getting on a long haul flight. I use the time as an opportunity to let my skin breath and to have a bit of a pamper on the plane. It's such a long time spent not really doing a lot, so why not give your skin a bit of TLC. I have no shame about sitting on an aeroplane with a face mask on, so neither should you. On my flight to Thailand, I'm taking a Kiehl's cleanser, a Masque Bar sheet mask, and the 7th Heaven soften socks and cuticle masques. It's the perfect time to get my skin looking ready for the beach.

A couple of things that I have packed in preparation for landing is some SPF, both for my face and for my body. I'll also apply a bit of makeup in an attempt to disguise the bags. I don't pack anything major, just a bit of concealer and mascara. Finishing with a bit of SPF lip balm - a total life saver if you want to avoid burn lips (ouch!)

Now, I know this all sounds like a lot, but it all fits into the Kiehl's pouch pictured. All you have to do is make sure all the items are less than 100ml and you'll get through security no problem.

What are your beauty must-haves for a long haul flight? I'd love for you to share them with me in the comments, or find me on Instagram and Twitter
