Jord: Wooden Watches I've Totally Fallen For

Jord: Wooden Watches I've Totally Fallen For

Valentine's Day has been and gone. To be honest, Pancake Day was more interesting for me this year. This year, the only thing that has been catching my eye is the beautiful wooden watches from Jord Watches. They kindly reached out to work with me, and I have been swooning over their watches ever since.

Jord was a new brand to me, so I was really interested to find out more about their very unique watches. You might have noticed, their watches are made from wood - yes, wood. On their website, they explain that they value sustainability, efficiency, and experimental living. They have a whole selection of both men's and women's watches that are just so beautiful. I chose the Dark Sandalwood Watch from the Fieldcrest series. The colour of the wood is so stunning, it would look perfect with any outfit and compliment any skin tone.

The watch arrived in the most beautiful wooden box. It made the product look so special. The watch was nestled in the box, wrapped around a herringbone cushion. To make this the perfect gift, Jord also offer an engraving service. Engraving can be added to the backplate of the watch and to the presentation box. The engraving is available in block and script lettering - but also you can upload a custom design featuring your handwriting, imagery or logo. This will really make the watch a one of a kind gift - or just as a treat for yourself!

What I'm Giving Up & Taking Up for Lent

What I'm Giving Up & Taking Up for Lent

Happy Valentine's Day.
Those who are in relationships, I hope you are having a good one with your beloved. Those who aren't (like me), love yourself - you don't need a relationship or a mushy #boydidgood instagram post today.

What I'm Giving Up & Taking Up for Lent

This year, it's not only Valentine's Day today, it's also Ash Wednesday/the First Day of Lent. Every year, for as long as I can remember, I have given something up for Lent. Usually chocolate as I have an unhealthy addiction to the stuff. However, this year, I wanted to reflect on some things that I will be taking up during Lent. So, here is my list of the things I will be giving up and taking up for Lent 2018.

1. No chocolate and sweets
This is my go-to Lent sacrifice every year. The funny thing is, I don't really like sweets, but I have to also give them up as it just end up replacing chocolate for sweets. So, now I just give up both.

2. More tolerance
I want to work on being more tolerate for the next 40 days. I can be quick to judge and not see the full picture sometimes - both in my professional and personal life

3. Less stress
This definitely applies to my work life more than my personal life. I've feel like I have been having a lot of stress, sometimes stress that I shouldn't even be getting so worked up about. I will be tolerant, less stressed and zen throughout lent.

4. More yoga
There seriously is a pattern forming here isn't there...
My start of 2018 has been really exercise focussed and I'm really enjoying it. It makes me feel so good in myself. So, I want to continue this theme with adding a bit of yoga into my routine.

5. More reading
Last year, I was really good at upping my reading - but things seemed to have slipped in 2018. I want to get a load of books I've been wanting to read and focus on setting aside some me-time to spend reading.

Do you participate in Lent? What will you be giving up/taking up? Let me know in the comments, or find me on on Instagram and Twitter

SmoothSkin IPL Hair Removal

SmoothSkin IPL Hair Removal

I know I can't be alone in saying this, but I HATE SHAVING.
Show me one woman that actually likes the process of hair removal. Shaving, epilating - don't even get me started on waxing. It's just all so awful. For as long as I can remember, I have always wanted to have laser hair removal. Just imagine never shaving again - heaven. But, I've never taken the plunge as it has always been so expensive. Before this product, I had never really given any interest into at home laser hair removal products, as I just assumed that they wouldn't be as good as what you could get at a salon. How wrong I was.

SmoothSkin IPL Hair Removal

SmoothSkin IPL Hair Removal

SmoothSkin was a brand that I had seen around and about on Instagram and I was so excited when they offered to send me one of their products to try out. I have been using the SmoothSkin Bare in this fab pink colour. The Bare has 100 flashes of light energy per minute making it the fastest on the market. The product works by transferring light energy through the skin's surface which is then absorbed by the melanin in the hair shaft. This absorbed light energy is then converted to heat energy which prevents any further growth in the hair follicle. Real science stuff.

In terms of treatment time, everyone is different. At the point of writing this, I have been using the product for about 10 weeks. I have seen the most improvement in my leg hair. There has been a considerable decrease in the hair regrowth. I have had less success with my underarms and bikini line - but I'm continuing to persevere. Hair colour and thickness can really affect how fast you see results, so it's really important to keep persevering with it. It's really important to get into a routine with it - using it every week to get the best results, no skimping!

SmoothSkin IPL Hair Removal

Time for the big question - the pain. I have heard that traditional laser hair removal is painful. I have seen other reviews of this product where people have said this is completely pain-free. I wouldn't exactly believe them. For me, the legs are completely painless. Using the glide method, you literally just glide the machine up your leg and you don't feel anything other than a small amount of heat. The underarms are a bit more painful, like an elastic band snapping on your skin. Smaller areas are best to use the stamp method, where you control the speed of the flashes. Finally, the bikini line - it's definitely the most uncomfortable area. Again, it feels like lots of elastic bands snapping. It's not ideal, but it literally takes less than 10 minutes to do your whole body, so it's not too much discomfort to endure.

SmoothSkin IPL Hair Removal

It's really important to keep using this product, even when you've achieved the desired effect to ensure that the hairs don't grow back. You might not need to use it religiously every week, but you do need to keep on top of it. So, I'll be continuing to use this product over the coming months and I'll give you another update in a few months time. I've seen on the website that SmoothSkin now have £20 off this product making it £179. So, now is a good time to get your hands on one.

Have you used any at home IPL? If you've got any tips or advice, I'd love to hear them. Find me in the comments or on Instagram and Twitter

January Favourites

January Favourites - Kate Morgan Cecilia
January Favourites - Kate Morgan Cecilia

Oh, January - actually the worst month. It feels like it's been dark and rainy for the last 31 days. But actually, all in all, it's not been that bad. The month has definitely dragged, but it's been a good start to the year. This year, I am committed to getting 12 monthly favourites posts out. I know I said this last year (and failed) but God loves a trier right!

Kiehl's Butter Stick - Naturally Nude
Of course, a Kiehl's product in my favourites - so predictable. This isn't a new purchase for me this month, but it's something that I have been using so much. I first bought this last summer and loved it. This winter my lips have been so dry, and wearing lipstick has been a bit of a pain. So, this tinted lip treatment has been perfect to give me a bit of colour whilst nourishing my lips. I've had this on my lips practically every day this month. I really want to get the un-tinted version too.

Dawn French -  Me You A Diary
This was a lovely gift from my parents for Christmas. Over the last month, I have been using this diary to write reflections from my day and things that I am grateful for. I absolutely love Dawn French, and this book is perfectly her. It's so funny and witty. Each month, there is a bit of an introduction giving an insight into Dawn's life and some really funny exercises for you to complete. I can't wait to complete this diary and look back on it in years to come.

Green People Gentle Cleanse and Make-Up Remover
You might have seen that I featured this product in a recent blog post all about Green People. I have been using this cleanser throughout January and it's been the perfect second cleanse. It has a really creamy formula that breaks down makeup so quickly and easily. It leaves my skin feeling really nourished - no dry/tight feeling at all. Also, its vegan, free from SLS, parabens, petrochemicals and alcohol - so it's really kind to your skin.

Neom Happiness Home Mist
A home mist is never something that I have tried before - or ever would have thought about buying. However, this was sent to me as a free gift with purchase and I love it. I've always loved Neom products, so there was really no surprise that I love this too. The scent of this is so gorgeous and it really leaves me feeling uplifted. To use, you spray this mist all around you then breath in through your nose for 7 seconds and out through your mouth for 11 seconds. This would be so lovely to use alongside any mindfulness/meditation practice.

La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo SPF 30
I fell straight into the social media buzz around this product. I've seen so many bloggers talking about this - and I'm always one to trust in a bloggers opinion. I've been using this for the last month and I've already started to notice a difference in my skin. It appears to have cleared up some of the marks on my face and any blemishes that I have are being cleared up quicker than they normally would. I also love that this has SPF 30 to keep my skin protected from the sun - even in the winter.

MAC Cosmetics Matte Lipstick - Whirl
Regular readers will know how I love a MAC lipstick. I am currently eagerly anticipating Jamie Genevieve's lipstick to be released. For most of last year, Velvet Teddy was my go-to lipstick. But, for  January this has been my go-to shade. Like I said before, my lips have been so dry this month, so I haven't been wearing much lipstick. But on the weekends, and when I've needed a bit of pick-me-up, I've been reaching for this colour. It's a gorgeous red-nude shade that looks perfect with any makeup look.

There we have it - my first favourites post done. Let's hope there are 11 more to follow.
I'd love to know what you've been loving this month. Let me know in the comments, or find me on on Instagram/Twitter.
