Scenting Your Home: Shifa Aromas

Scenting Your Home: Shifa Aromas

I am a total sucker for anything to scent the home - I have more candles than I can count. I love nothing more than coming home on a winters evening, lighting a candle and cosying up on the sofa. Reed diffusers are a more recent love of mine - I really like how long lasting they are and how great they make your house smell.

Scenting Your Home: Shifa Aromas

I came across Shifa Aromas on Instagram and I was totally drawn in by their products - not just because of my love of candles, but for how beautiful they are. Finding out a bit more about them, I saw they were a small business running from a family workshop in Yorkshire. The Yorkshire Lass in me was jumping for joy. When they offered to send me some of their products to try, I was so excited as I knew I was in for a treat.

I love this brand's ethos, they aim to create a therapeutic experience which they say is 'much needed in today's hectic lifestyles'. They say that they want their products to provide 'comfort, peace and relaxation creating a positive impact on one's wellbeing'. On their website, they explain that the word 'Shifa' means 'to be healed'.  They explain that this is the vision of their brand. I'm totally on board with this.

All their products are vegan-friendly, paraben free and SLS free. Parabens are nasty preservatives that prolong the shelf life of products and SLS is a chemical that can irritate the skin and isn't great for the environment. Shifa Aromas say that they create their products with the finest fragrances and essential oils - infused with natural flowers, woods and resins.

I had the opportunity to try some bits from the Arabian Midnight range and the Summer Dreams range. The prices for the products in both these ranges are the same. The small tin candle is  £6.50 with a burn-time of 15-20hrs. The diffuser is £27 and will last up to, a pretty impressive, 15 weeks. Once the diffuser has run out, a refill can be purchased for only £13.

With regards to the scents, both these products smell incredible. Seriously great. I'm terrible at describing scents, so I'll just leave it to what the professionals say. The Arabian Midgnight scent includes 'mandarin, Rose Otto, soft notes of Peony, Lily, Chamomile resting on a base of rich Musk, Amber and Patchouli'. All in all, a lot of really great smelling things.

For the Summer Dreams scent, this includes top notes of 'Cherry, Plum and Raspberry, exotic Orchid, Freesia and Iris resting on a medley of sensual Musks, sweet Vanilla pods and soft Amber'. This creates a musky, yet fresh smelling candle, it's a really great balance. The candle is infused with the flowers of Heather, Orange Blossom, Corn and Rose, which gives a really beautiful finish to the candle.

I would highly recommend trying out these products, not only because of how beautiful they are, also because supporting British, small businesses is so important. They would make great Christmas gift for the candle lover in your life.

November Favourites

November Favourites

November is practically over, and I've definitely got my Christmas pants on. Let's face it - if you've seen my Instagram over the last month you'll have seen I'm already very much in the Christmas swing of things. What I haven't done though is put my tree up, that is always saved for the first weekend in December. But less of Chrismas, and on to my November Favourites. This month, there is a couple of new bits, and some of my old favourites making a re-appearance.

Case Station BakPack 3 Customisable Case

Case Station BakPack 3 Customisable Case

I came across Case Station on Instagram and immediately loved their products. They have fully customisable cases for phones, tablets and even Apple Watch straps. For the design, they have so many different patters and pictures to choose from. Alternatively, you can upload your own picture. For my design, I combined three different pattern options to make my final creation. I then added the KMC lettering for a monogrammed finish - I love anything with a monogram! I opted for the BakPack 3 case as it stores up to three cards and cash in the back of the phone. I love being able to pop my card in the back of my phone and head to the shops, or out for drinks with friends. Case Station also have a fab competition running at the minute where you can win an Apple Watch Series 3 and two customisable straps. Click here to enter.
Coconut Oil

Coconut Oil
You might have seen my recent blog post about how coconut oil has changed my skincare regime. Well, after singing its praises in that post, I could hardly not include it in my monthly favourites. I have pretty much used this product on a daily basis, for cleansing or for treating my breakouts. It's so versatile. I have seen a real difference in my skin since using it, so it's going to be staying as a firm favourite in my skincare routine.

Pixi Glow Tonic

Pixi Glow Tonic
A re-addition to my skincare routine is this product. If you're a long time reader of my blog, you would have seen that I reviewed this product back in January and featured it as part of my January Favourites. Since then, I have repurchased but for some reason, I just stopped using the product. For no reason why. This month, I have re-introduced this product back into my skincare routine and I am so thankful for it. It leaves my skin feeling fresh, with a healthy glow. It's really nourishing to the skin and it doesn't leave it feeling dry and tight like some other toners can.

Clarins Lip Comfort Instant Light Lip Oil

Clarins Lip Comfort Instant Light Lip Oil
Another comeback has been this little beauty. Again, I stopped using this through no fault of the product, but more because this is a winter favourite of mine every year. I don't know about you, but my lips hate the winter months. They become dry and cracked so easily. This lip oil is one of the only products that really works for me. I love how nourished my lips feel after using it. I really love putting this on just before getting into bed and letting it do it's magic overnight. I wake up with soft and nourished lips every time.

The Body Shop All-In-One Instablur

The Body Shop All-In-One Instablur
You might have seen this featured in my recent Body Shop Haul blog post. I've pretty much used this every day since buying it and I've been really impressed with it. I've found that it primes the skin so well for makeup. Evening out my skintone and creating a realy nice base for foundation. I have also noticed that my foundation stays on longer, especially around more oily areas like my t-zone and chin. It definitly beats any other primers that I've tried.

I hope you've enjoyed reading all about my favourites this month, only one more to go for 2017 - eeek!! Let me know what some of your favourites have been this month. Find me in the comments, or on Instagram/Twitter.

Coconut Oil: How It's Changed My Skincare Regime

Coconut Oil: How It's Changed My Skincare Regime

Now, I do realise I'm about two years late to the coconut oil bandwagon. But, better late than never, right? Coconut oil has been all the rage, from using it in cooking to skincare and even for your feet. But, I never really bought into this trend until now.

Here's the backstory, about two months ago I stopped taking the contraceptive pill and, as a result, my skin has seriously broken out. I've always been pretty lucky with my skin, so it's really thrown me and knocked my confidence. I do realise some people have it a lot worse than me, so I don't expect you to get out the violins for me. I've just been putting up with them really and plodding on with my usual skincare regime, hoping that my hormones will sort themselves out sooner or later.

Coconut Oil: How It's Changed My Skincare Regime

Last week, I was watching Pixwoo's latest video with Rochell Humes. She mentioned that she was having a facial on holiday and the lady told her to put coconut oil on a blemish she had. She said 'I kid you not, it got rid of the spot'. So, that night, I headed to my kitchen cupboards and dabbed some coconut oil on all the blemishes that I had. The improvement in my skin the following morning was totally shocking. Whilst the spots have not completely gone, they have dramatically reduced. Since then, I have been putting the coconut oil on my skin every night before I go to bed and I am seeing an improvement in my skin every day. I have also replaced my morning cleanser with coconut oil. It works into the skin really nicely and leaves my skin feeling so soft.

Since this, I've used coconut oil as a hair mask, a lip balm and I've used it as a cuticle oil. It's pretty much becoming an obsession. Next on my list is to use the coconut oil as a foot mask - applying to the feet then wrapping them in cling film.  I'll let you know how I get on.

Coconut Oil: How It's Changed My Skincare Regime

From what I have read online, I don't think coconut oil is suitable for very oily or acne-prone skin. But, hopefully, it might work for you too.  Please let me know any other ways that you use coconut oil - I'd love to hear more ideas. Share them with me in the comments, or find me on  Instagram and Twitter.

So... Fragrances

Are you feeling as throwback as I am seeing these? Anyone who was a child/teen in the 90s/00s must remember these beauties. So, when So...? asked if I would like to try some of their fragrances I jumped at the chance.

I recently had a girls night at my house and I got these out to show my friends. Safe to say they went crazy for them. We had a trip down memory lane and laughed at our memories associated with these fragrances. If I had a blog back then, I'm sure these would have been all I would have posted about. After we had got over all the fun and actually got down to smelling the fragrances, we were super impressed.

They have a new Dark Romance fragrance which they have brought out in the traditional body mist and also in an eu de parfum. Very fancy, I know.  This scent was definitely the favourite for me friends, and for me too. It's a more musky fragrance with hints of vanilla. This creates a really nice balance of a feminine fragrance that isn't too sweet and florally. The scent is so perfect for this time of year. Whenever I have been wearing this - either the body mist or the eu de parfum - I always have people asking me what I am wearing. This range is super affordable too, £4.99 for the mist and £6.99 for the eu de parfum. An amazing price for a really good quality product.

These two are the more traditional body mists. I totally love that they have brought the mists back in their traditional form - I mean, why change what was brilliant in the first place!? These two smell so great and would be perfect for the summer months. They are so fresh and light. They are also so reasonably priced too, just £3.99 for the mists.

Have you tried anything from the So...? fragrance come back? I'd love to hear your memories associated with these scents too. Let me know in the comments, or find me on Instagram/Twitter.

The Body Shop Haul & First Impressions

The Body Shop Haul & First Impressions

So, when I saw The Body Shop's spend £50 get £25 off offer, I had to make a purchase. Too good to miss right?! Some products weren't included in this offer, much to my disappointment. But I managed to get my hands on some of the things that I have had my eye on for a little while. So, keep reading to see what I purchased and my initial thoughts.

The Body Shop Vanilla Pumpkin Range

The Body Shop Vanilla Pumpkin Range

The Body Shop Vanilla Pumpkin Range

The vanilla pumpkin range from The Body Shop has been all over Twitter and Instagram. I couldn't think of anything more festive for this time of year and I'm so glad I managed to snap them up before they sold out. The scent of these products is incredible. The body butter is so rich and nourishing to the skin. I love putting it on just before bed, allowing the product time to sink into the skin overnight. This range might have sold out, but I have seen they have Vanilla Chai, Frosted Berries and Frosted Plum ranges, which I bet all smell amazing too.

The Body Shop Vitamin E Hydrating Toner

I don't know about you, but I am so lazy with toner. It's a step that I always leave out and can't really be bothered with. But, this changes now (I hope!). I loved the Vitamin E moisturiser, I found it so nourishing. So, I thought this toner would be a good addition to my skincare regime. After using this product my skin feeling really hydrated, not tight or dry like from other toners.

The Body Shop Instablur

Instablur is one of The Body Shop's bestsellers, and I can see why. It promises to be a shine-controlling, blemish-hiding, pore-concealing, complexion-perfector. So, that was right up my street. This product creates a really lovely base for makeup. It completely smooths out your skin and foundation sits really nicely on top.

The Body Shop Lightening Shade Adjusting Drops

The Lightening Shade Adjusting Drops are one of my beauty must-haves, so this was a re-purchase for me. I use this on a daily basis to slightly lighten my foundation shade. I really struggle to find drug-store foundations to match my skin tone. High-end foundations I have no trouble with. So, I love to add these lightening drops to make my perfect shade. The lightening and darkening drops can also be used for highlighting and contouring, which I really need to try.
