August Favourites

August Favourites
August, the end of the Summer. But honestly, who can say we have had a Summer here in the UK. There has been the odd week and weekend here and there, but the remaining time has been cold and wet. I've even had my winter Timberland boots back out this month. Anyway, less of my complaining and over to the things I have actually been loving this month. As you have probably already guessed, the weather will not be featuring!

August Favourites

L'Oreal Paris Hydra Genius Aloe Water
L'Oreal Paris Hydra Genius Aloe Water
I saw this product all over social media when it was first released. Props to L'Oreal for their marketing of this. I suffer from dry and dehydrated skin, so I knew this would be perfect for me. I have been using this product when my skin has been seriously suffering and it has worked wonders on my skin. A little of this product goes a really long way, you only need one pump of this to cover your whole face. One and a half if my face is feeling particularly dry. This leaves my skin feeling really refreshed and hydrated all day. It also provides the best base for foundation.  This product also includes Hyaluronic Acid to keep the skin looking hydrated and youthful. I'm really looking forward to seeing the long term benefits from using this product.

Kiehl's Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado
I picked up this little beauty up when I went to the Kiehl's event earlier in the month - read all about it in my blog post. Before this, I didn't even consider eye cream. I think I just rested on the fact that I haven't got that many wrinkles yet, so why bother with eye cream. I've actually realised that eye cream is about so much more than wrinkles. It's about hydration, looking and feeling more awake. The three main ingredients are Avocado Oil, Beta-Carotene and Shea Butter. Apparently, Avocado Oil is the most moisturising of any fruit oil, meaning that this product is super hydrating to your under eyes. Beta-Carotene, if you didn't already know, is found in carrots. It's a natural antioxidant, but sadly it won't make you see in the dark like my Mum and Dad would have had me believe. Who knew it was actually good for your eyes though. After using this product, I have really noticed that the skin around my eyes is more hydrated, so my concealer to stay on longer without creasing. Who knew eye cream would be the answer to that.

Pure Potions Hair & Scalp Natural Shampoo and Conditioner
Pure Potions Hair & Scalp Natural Shampoo and Conditioner
Over the last few months, I've really been seeking more natural brands. Of course, I'm not perfect, but I have been enjoying being more particular with what products I've been putting on my face and body. It's also helping me to discover new brands, like Pure Potions. They were kind enough to let me try their products and I have been really impressed. Their products are 99.9% natural, which is pretty impressive. Pure Potions pride themselves on creating mild plant-based biodegradable cleansers.  They say their products gently lift dirt and grease from the hair, without stripping the natural oils from the skin or irritating the scalp. When I was younger, I suffered from really bad eczema, so I don't like to irritate my skin in fear that it will come back. I have really enjoyed using these products. They take some getting used to as they don't lather like your standard shampoo does - but that's because they're not pumped with chemicals. My hair still feels really clean and much more nourished after using. I have terribly dry ends, but these products seem to be really helping me out.

L'Oreal Paris Brow Pomade
L'Oreal Paris Brow Pomade
You must have been living under a rock (or you don't have an Instagram account) if you haven't heard of this product. Again, props to the L'Oreal Marketing team with this one too. I honestly haven't got a bad word to say about this product. Let's start with the packaging - rose gold, yes please. I'm not normally one for a brow pomade, I never jumped on the Anastasia Dip Brow bandwagon. I have always thought they were too messy and fiddly to work with. But, after using this I have realised how wrong I was. With this product, I can do my brows in just as little time as with a pencil and they actually look so much better. I bought the shade Brunette and it is a perfect match for my brows. What's more, a tiny bit of this product goes a long way. I learn that the hard way when I put too much product on the brush and ended up with a serious brow look! This is definitely going to be a permanent feature in my makeup bag.

What have been some of your favourites this month? I'd love for you to share them with me in the comments, or via Instagram/Twitter.

Bravura London Skincare

Bravura London first caught my eye on Instagram, their colourful packaging was seriously beautiful.  It wasn't a brand that I had heard of before, but I had read some very good things from other bloggers. When I had the opportunity to try out their products, I jumped at the chance. I have been using these products over the last couple of months, so I want to share with you my first impressions of these products. At a later date, I will come back to these products and reflect on the more long term results.

Buying skin care online has never really been something I have done before. I like to be in store, speaking to the store assistances and testing out the products before I buy. So, I was very surprised to find out how personalised this brand makes buying skin care online. Bravura offers a free skin care advice service where they ask you about your skin type and then recommend the most suitable products for your skin. This consultation is no obligation, they will give you your recommendations without the pressure of needing to purchase from them. Another brilliant factor to this brand is that they do not test their products on animals.

Revitalising Ginseng Toner with Glycolic Acid 5%
Revitalising Ginseng Toner with Glycolic Acid 5% - £12.40
Is it just me, or is anyone else really lazy with toner? It's always a step that I miss out, but it really is needed. The aim of this product is to balance your skin's PH after cleansing, to prepare your skin for treatments or moisturiser. The Glycolic Acid helps to brighten and tone the skin. After cleansing, I  apply the toner to my skin using a cotton wool pad. I've really noticed more of a glow to my skin when I use this.

Azulene Moisturiser

Azulene Moisturiser
Azulene Moisturiser - £9.90
Firstly, how cool is the colour of this moisturiser. I expected to look like an Avatar when wearing it, but sadly thankfully not! When I received this, I had no idea was Azulene was. But, after reading up on the product on the Bravura website, I found out Azulene is a natural, healing botanical extract from the chamomile flower that helps to soothe sensitive areas and prevent inflammations, blemishes and blackheads. I am very lucky with my skin in terms of breakouts, but around that time of the month, I always suffer from hormonal breakouts. Since using this product, I have noticed they have been less and not as severe.

The product contains Rosemary, Sage and Hop extracts which help to reduce inflammation of breakouts. It also contains Hazelnut, Wheatgerm and Avocado Oils combine to nourish the skin without clogging the pores. It's a really lightweight moisturiser that provides a really good base for makeup.

I'm not going to lie, this product scared me somewhat. It even came with its own leaflet of instructions. I have never used an acid like this before, so I was a bit confused with how I was meant to be using it. Hannah at Bravura was so helpful in guiding me in the right direction with this product.

Lactic acid is a milder exfoliator, whilst also helping the skin to hold moisture, so it's good if you have dry skin. To apply, I used one of the Bravura brushes to ensure I had an even application. I use the product every other day, as advised by Hannah at Bravura. She said that it was important to have at least a days break between each use. You start by leaving the Lactic Acid on for a few minutes and then building up the time with each use. Once you have achieved your desired effect, you can then just apply the product twice a week to maintain. I was a bit lazy, and a bit nervous, with this, so I probably haven't been increasing the time as much as I should. So, I'll be restarting my course of this product to see the full effects.

I may only be 26 years old, but in my opinion, it is never too early to start using anti-ageing products. This product is perfect for that. It provides lightweight, but intense, hydration that helps to reduce fine lines and wrinkles or prevent them from appearing. You only need a couple of drops of this product for it to do its magic. You apply the product after cleansing and toning, before adding other serums or moisturisers. This can even be used on the very sensitive skin under the eyes. I'm lucky to not have any major wrinkles yet, so I can't comment on that. But, my skin has definitely benefitted from the extra boost of hydration.

If you've read my blog before, you'll know I'm a huge fan of an oil cleanser, especially the Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Cleansing Oil. The First Cleanse Oil contains organic cleansing oils, infused with organic chamomile, lavender and rosemary oil. So, it smells great and it is really good for your skin. You apply the product all over the skin and to closed eyes to break down your make up. You then add a little bit of water to turn the oil into a milky cleanser. For me personally, I found this product really irritating to my eyes. I asked my mum to use this as I wanted to check if it was just me, and she felt that it was irritating to her eyes too. So that was a bit of a shame as it is a really lovely cleanser on the skin. But for me, I need my cleanser to be able to remove eye makeup too - purely because I am too lazy to take eye and face makeup off separately.

Overall, I have been seriously impressed with this brand and I really looking forward to seeing the long term effects on my skin. Have you ever tried any bits from this brand? If so, what do you recommend? Let me know in the comments, or you can find me on Instagram and Twitter.

Sensse Mini Sonic Facial Cleansing Brush & Exfoliator - Giveaway

A little while ago, you might have seen my review of the Clinique Sonic System Cleansing Brush. I managed to snap this up half price and fell in love with it from the first use. So, when I had the opportunity to try out this Sensse Cleansing Brush, I jumped at the chance. Within this post, you'll have the opportunity to win your very own brush - so keep on reading to find out how.

I completely loved the packaging and the look of this product. I really liked the white box with the really simple logo - nothing fancy, just simple and sophisticated. The rose gold detailing had me hooked too.

The main thing that stood out to me about his product is the interchangeable heads. I love my Clinique brush, but there is only the single head option. I think you can buy different heads but these come at an additional cost. With this Sensse brush, you receive a cleansing brush head and an exfoliating brush head. My skin always feels so soft after using these brushes - even just the cleansing head leaves my skin feeling super soft.

I mainly used this brush for my second cleanse, or my morning cleanse. They just don't work very well to remove makeup, as over time the bristles will just get stained from the makeup. I cleanse like normal with my oil-based cleanser. Then, I apply a cream cleanser to my face, using the brush to work the product into my skin for about a minute. With the exfoliating brush head, the process is pretty much the same. I really liked how I could use this exfoliating head with my normal cleanser or with an exfoliating scrub for a deeper cleanse.

If I could change one thing about this product, it would be to ensure it an inbuilt timer. When I use this product, I have the fear of using it for too long on my skin. For ease of use, it would be nice for the brush to switch off after the recommended period of time. But overall, I have been extremely impressed with this product. Sensse offers a 60 day money back guarantee, so if for any reason you don't get on with the product you can get your money back.

On to the part I'm sure you've all been waiting for, the giveaway. Click the link below and follow the instructions to be in with the chance of winning your very own brush. You have until the 1st September to enter, so go go go....

What are your thoughts on facial cleansing brushes? Which ones have you tried and loved?

Wish List #1

This post contains sponsored links

Alongside my new empties series, I wanted to start a wish list series. A place for me to document the things I am loving at the moment. Whilst I would love all the money to have a lavish, 'buy anything I want' lifestyle, that ain't ever going to happen. But, I thought I would put some of the bits I am loving here on my little space of the internet, so if in a month or two's time I am still lusting over them it shows that I really do want them. Also, it would be great to get your feedback on what I really should be buying and the things that I can give a miss.

1. Gucci Soho Disco Bag
I have been lusting over this bag for months, maybe even years. I first saw Zoe Sugg wearing it in one of her youtube videos and I had to have it. Since then I have seen this bag on so many people and my love for it has grown and grown. A Gucci bag isn't something (sadly) I can just pop down to the shops and buy. But I am determined to save up for it and make it mine one day.

2. Jo Malone Peony & Blush Suede CologneSince purchasing the Wood Sage & Sea Salt Cologne earlier in the year, Jo Malone now has my heart. This scent was really unexpected for me, normally I stay away from any floral fragrances, but this was completely not what I was expecting. Totally fell in love with it. Next month, I am going for a Jo Malone bridal consultation with my friend who is getting married very soon. So, I cannot promise that I won't be walking out with this fragrance. But I promise I will try to restrain myself.

3. Real Techniques Powder Bleu Brushes
This is definitely more of a want, not a need thing. But seriously, have you seen them. They are so stunning. I am an absolute lover of Real Techniques. They seem to be the only brush brand that I will buy at the moment. I already have lots of their brushes, but a girl can never have too many, right? I have a beautiful Oliver Bonas brush holder, and I am looking for the perfect brushes to go in there - not like all my other dirty brushes that I keep hidden away. Could this be them?

4. L'Occitane Skincare
If you're a regular reader, you know how I love a bit of skincare. L'Occitane has released a new range of beauty gift sets inspired by the South of France. Whilst I'd be lucky to get a trip to Weston-Super-Mare this year, this is about as close as I'll be getting to the South of France. Yes, so I know you're probably thinking 'a gift set for yourself?!' But, I actually love to buy myself a little gift set or two. Not cause I'm going all Parks and Rec 'treat yo self'. But actually cause its a really good way to try out a mixture of products, usually in a smaller size, to see if you actually like them. On their website, they have a beautiful 'Weekend Beauty Tote Bag' set that is full of smaller size products, perfect to take away with you or to test out to see if you like them. Also, the tote bag is incredibly pretty!

5. Chelsea/Ankle Boots
I really would like a decent pair of Chelsea/ankle boots to get me through the winter months this year. I have a pair from New Look that I wore last year, but the quality of them isn't that great and I feel it is starting to show on the boots. I have my trusty Timberland boots that I wear with jeans for work, but I would like something a bit smarter for the weekends. I am really loving these ones from Topshop. But do I want a heel or do I want them to be flat - decisions, decisions?

There you have it, part 1 of my wish list series. I do hope you have enjoyed and got a bit of inspiration for yourself. I would love for you to advise me on these purchases, both good and bad. Let me know in the comments, or find me on Instagram and Twitter.

Dr Paw Paw Balms

Dr Paw Paw Balms
Dr. Paw Paw is a relatively new brand that has made a pretty huge impact on the beauty world. Their original balm was only introduced to the market in 2013, but since then they have grown a huge fan base - including the likes of Sam and Nic from Pixiwoo, Emma Watson, and Emma Wills.  Dr. Paw Paw is a British brand and their products are made in Britan - so that's always a winner for me.

One of the main ingredients that is used throughout their product range is Carica Papaya, or Paw Paw. It's a fruit that contains vitamin B and C. This helps to aid skin repair, has anti-inflammatory properties and helps to add moisture. The original balm really is a wonder product that can be used practically anywhere. Like the Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour Cream, but with a smaller price tag and it's just as effective. They also have tinted balms in their collection that can be used on the lips and the face. I've been trying out these three products for the last couple of months and I've been really enjoying them.

Dr Paw Paw Original Balm

This product is an absolute must have product for me. It's totally replaced the Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour Cream for me - sorry Liz! This product can be used for practically anything - lips, cuticles, dry skin, insect bites, eye brow gel...basically anything you feel you want to use it for. I had a cold recently, and as a result, I had a really pretty Rudolph nose from the cheap tissues I was using. This left my nose and lips feeling really dry. I put a layer of this balm on my lips and around my nose before bed, when I woke up in the morning all the dry skin was completely gone. This product is now a must have for me in my handbag.

Dr Paw Paw Balm Tinted Peach Pink
Tinted Peach Pink Balm

Dr Paw Paw Balm Tinted Ultimate Red
The tinted balms are so stunning. They obviously can't be used in as many ways as the Original Balm, unless red and pink cuticles are your thing! I have loved using these products for my lips and cheeks. The best way to use them is to place the product on the back of your hand, work the product into your hand with your finger, then apply to the lips or cheeks. This seems to work better than applying it straight from the tube. The peach pink tint also looks really pretty on your eyes.  There are some really helpful 'how to' videos on the Dr. Paw Paw website with advice on how best to use these products. Over there you will also find some more of their products - more products that I really must try!

Dr Paw Paw Tinted Ultimate Red and Peach Pink Balms

Overall, I've been really impressed with these products. It's a brand that I've never used before and I'm really glad that I've been introduced to them. Have you ever used any of the Dr. Paw Paw products? Share your thoughts on them with me in the comments, or you can find me on Instagram and Twitter.

#KiehlsOnWheels, Bristol

#KiehlsOnWheels, Bristol

Last Thursday, I was extremely privileged to attend a bloggers event for one of my all time favourite brands, Kiehl's. If you're a regular reader of my blog, you will have seen this brand being mentioned within my posts a lot of times. So, you can only imagine my excitement at attending this event.

#KiehlsOnWheels, Bristol

I went to the Kiehl's concession in John Lewis at The Mall, Bristol. I met the very lovely Hannah, who gave me a skin consultation and the most lovely facial. Despite already being very aware of the brand, Hannah still managed to introduce me to products that I had never used or heard of before. She did some tests on my skin and informed me that I had a normal t-zone with dry skin elsewhere. She then gave me a facial using products that were perfect for my skin type. All the way through she told me about each product, how I should be using it and the benefits of doing so. The products she used were:

Hannah also recommended the Nightly Refining Micro-Peel Concentrate to add to my evening skincare routine and the Calendula & Aloe Soothing Hydration Masque to use twice a week. Sadly, I now have a very long shopping list of products that I must have. However, the Kiehl's team were very generous in giving me loads of samples, including all the ones used in the facial, for me to take home to try. There was no pressure to buy anything either which was so lovely. I did purchase, of course, I don't need any pressure to purchase from Kiehl's. As part of my purchases, I had to pick up one of the Butterstick Lip Treatments - one word, incredible.

I believe this skin consultation is available in your local Kiehl's, so why not give them a ring and try it out for yourself. Also, if you head to a concession store (like this one in John Lewis) you can also claim John Lewis points with your purchase, they will price match against other department stores selling Kihels, and they can also have access to the beauty rooms within the store to give you more of a luxurious experience for your consultation. What's not to love?!

Following this consultation, Hannah then invited me to attend the blogger's event that was being held later that evening. Flash forward to me in my car, finding any makeup I had to make myself look semi presentable. But, to be honest, the facial left my skin looking incredible and the BB cream gave me just the coverage that I needed.

The event was extremely informative, talking us through loads of the Kiehl's products and allowing us to try them out. It was really nice to hear more about some of my most loved products, and hear about some products I had never come across before.

What was so lovely about this event was meeting bloggers in my area. Where this was the first event that I have attended that's not been in London, it was nice to meet fellow bloggers who don't live too far from me - one even just in the next town. Of course, we thought of the photo opportunities this would open for us, we are bloggers after all.

All in all, the Kiehl's experience was everything I expected from this much-loved brand. If you haven't tried them, I honestly urge you to head to your nearest store or concession. They have the loveliest teams who would be more than happy to help. I'm already excited to go back and take my mum with me to have the pampering experience that I had. Until then, I might try to resist the urge to purchase anything (who am I kidding, we all know that's a complete lie). But until then, I am sure there will be more reviews of Kiehl's products on my blog very soon.

What are your must have products from Kiehl's? I'd love for you to share them with me (and add to my shopping list) in the comments, or you can find me on Instagram and Twitter.

My Signature Scents

My Signature Scents

I don't know about you, but I am one of those people who associates smells with people and places. Like perfumes or aftershave, for example. I will often associate specific scents with people - like their signature scent. I had a friend at university who would always wear the same perfume whenever I saw her, I couldn't tell you the name of it though. But, if someone were to walk past me on the street wearing that exact perfume, I would always think of her. I can do it with ex-boyfriends too - if I smell an aftershave that they used to wear, it makes me think of them - even my back to my high school boyfriend! Please, in the comments, reassure me that I'm not the only one who does this.

So, for today's post, I wanted to share with you three of my signature scents, that I'd like to think that people would recognise me by too.

My Signature Scents

Jo Malone - Wood Sage & Sea Salt
You might have seen me raving about this scent in my July Favourites. I am totally obsessed with his fragrance. I had always lusted over Jo Malone fragrances, but it wasn't until my birthday this year that I finally treated myself to one. I had the most lovely time in the store picking my fragrance. The lady serving me was so attentive and patient, whilst I was smelling pretty much every fragrance in the store until I found the perfect scent for me. I'm definitely not into sweet, floral scents, so this is probably more on the masculine side, which I love. In terms of the notes (no, I'm not really sure what these mean either), the top note is Ambrette Seeds, the heart note is sea salt and the base note is sage. All in all leaving a really woody, earthy but light scent. I also love the staying power of this fragrance, it lasts all day.

Chanel - Coco Mademoiselle
I'm sure I'm right in saying that pretty much everyone has heard of this iconic scent. I first experienced this scent when I was a University and one of my friends was wearing it - from then I had to have it in my life. 6 years later it's still a scent that I adore. You might have seen this fragrance featured in Top 5 Fragrances post last year. This fragrance is a really nice mixture Orange, Jasmine, Rose and Patchouli. You might think that this doesn't exactly sound up my street. But, this mixture isn't too floral or sweet, it's a musky yet fresh scent - confusing I know! It's just complete luxury that I totally recommend you try.

Narcisco Rodriguez - For Her
This fragrance has probably been my longest loved fragrance. I first purchased this when I was in secondary school. I also talked about this in my Top 5 Fragrances post and shared how I have been wearing this scent, on and off, for 11 years. That's how you know it's a signature fragrance. The staying power of this scent is incredible, it last all day on the skin and even longer on your clothes. This is a really lovely, musky scent with hints of floral to keep the scent slightly feminine. The scent includes floral-fruity, amber and woody notes, making a really beautiful fragrance.

What are your signature scents? I'd love for you to share them with me in the comments, or you can find me on Instagram and Twitter.

Top Five: High End Lipsticks

Top Five: High End Lipsticks

A couple of weeks ago, you might have seen me talking about my Top Five Drug Store Lipsticks. Whilst I love an affordable lipstick, I'm also a sucker for a more pricey lippy. Whilst my high end lipstick collection is considerably smaller than my drug store alternatives, I wanted to share with you five of my absolute favourites.

Top Five: High End Lipsticks

 Clinique Cherry Pop Lipstick
Clinique Cherry Pop Lipstick
A perfect, post box red is a must for any lipstick collection. This is mine. This lipstick has great colour pay off and is really long lasting. It's also really nourishing to the lips as it has a smoothing primer built into the formula of the lipstick. This is the mini version of the full-size product, so it fits perfectly into even the smallest of bags for a night out. Even with it being a mini, it doesn't seem to be running out in any hurry which is perfect!

Charlotte Tilbury Penelope Pink
You might have seen from my recent Charlotte Tilbury post that my love for this brand has grown at a rapid pace this year. I bought my first Tilbury lipstick a few months ago, and now I own three. They are absolutely perfect. This shade, Penelope Pink, is the perfect 'your lips but better' nude. I'm not a huge fan of a pinky-nude, but this one is perfect for me. This is part of the K.I.S.S.I.N.G range, so it's really nourishing and hydrating on the lips.

MAC Velvet Teddy
MAC Velvet Teddy
Since seeing Velvet Teddy being worn by my best friend (which, if I remember right, she stole from her sister) I had to have it in my collection. I absolutely love this shade and it's my 'go to' shade for any makeup look. It has even been affectionately named 'Velvet Ted' between me and my friends because we wear it so much.

Charlotte Tilbury Glastonberry
Charlotte Tilbury Glastonberry
I first heard of this lipstick from watching Zoella's YouTube videos in the autumn months - she basically lives in this lipstick during the Autumn/Winter. It's the most perfect berry shade that I cannot wait to wear throughout AW17.  This is one of the Matte Revolution lipsticks, so it's not a nourishing on the lips as Penelope Pink, but I definitely don't find it drying or uncomfortable.

MAC Creme D'Nude
MAC Creme D'Nude
Another, albeit more recent, MAC favourite. It's part of the cremesheen range which is really nourishing to the lips. As it says in the name, it's got more of a sheen than a shade like Velvet Teddy, but it's nothing too over the top. The shade is a really lovely pale, peachy-pink, which pretty much compliments any makeup look. I also love to mix this with Velvet Teddy to make a completely different shade.

What are some of your favourite high end lipsticks? I'd love for you to share them with me in the comments, or you can find me on Instagram and Twitter.
