July Favourites

July Favourites

It's then end of July already. The summer has practically gone and we've probably had, at most, about a week of nice weather. Oh the British summer. I know I am the worst at doing monthly favourites -  that New Year's resolution went out of the window in about March - but, this month I had some favourites that I couldn't not share with you.

L'Oreal Sublime Bronze Self Tan Overnight Elixir
L'Oreal Sublime Bronze Self Tan Overnight Elixir
If you follow me on Instagram (if not, click here to join the party) you will be quite surprised to see this in my favourites. On my insta stories, I shared the awful time I had with this tan. I heard really good reviews, but then woke up with streaks all over my legs. But, it turns out this was totally my fault. I didn't prep my skin well enough. I've since used this product a number of times and I've been so happy with  the results. The formula is really nice and leaves your skin feeling really hydrated in the morning. It also isn't really sticky like most fake tans, so it is really comfortable to sleep in. My favourite bit has to be the scent. No more weird biscuit tan smell for me! This product also worked really well on my face and didn't make me break out like most tans do.

Jo Malone Wood Sage and Sea Salt Cologne
This scent was a birthday present to myself back in May, and I have been using it really sparingly since this month. I had a bit of a word with myself and realised why I am keeping it for 'special occasions' when actually how often do they happen. So this month, I've been making more of an effort to treat myself by wearing this gorgeous scent. It's totally stunning. I have loved pairing this cologne with the matching body creme to really intensify the scent. Its so luxurious and really makes me feel good when I'm wearing it.

Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Botanical Cleansing Oil
Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Botanical Cleansing Oil
To say this has been a July favourite would be a lie, it's been a favourite since May and I have been using it daily since then. You might have seen that I did a blog post reviewing the Midnight Recovery collection - see this here. In this post, I raved about how happy I was with these products, and this has definitely continued. This cleansing oil makes make up removal so easy. It melts your makeup so quick, even waterproof mascara, so then you can easily wipe it all away with a facial cloth. Done, as easy as that. I've also found it to be really nourishing and hydrating to my skin. It's definitely a product I can't live without.

The English Soap Company Rich Shea Butter Soap

Soap doesn't normally make it to my favourites, but these have really surprised me. Generally, I tend to stay away from bars of soap. I usually find them really drying to my skin, so I normally go for liquid hand soap. These soaps are completely different. I haven't found them drying at all - in fact the opposite. They are really nourishing to your hands and leave them feeling really soft. These bars also smell incredible. Like, words can't describe great. The packaging is so pretty on all the bars of soap - perfect to be given as a present. On their website they also have some really pretty gift sets too. I can see these soaps being really long lasting too, I've had mine for about three months and I've barley made a dent into the bar.

What have been some of your favourites this month? I'd love for you to share them with me in the comments, or via Instagram/Twitter.

Charlotte Tilbury: Instant Look In A Palette

Charlotte Tilbury Instant Look In A Palette - Beauty Glow
Until this year, I didn't own anything from Charlotte Tilbury. I had always looked at her products with awe but never purchased anything myself. Now, my collection is ever growing and I don't know how I have gone this long without adding her products to my makeup bag.

Charlotte Tilbury Instant Look In A Palette
The latest additions to my collection have been the Instant Look In A Palette. I purchased the beauty glow palette and the seductive beauty palette. Yes, two Tilbury palettes does sound slightly excessive, but the seductive beauty palette was in the sale (and still is!).

These palettes make doing makeup so easy. It's an all in one product that would be perfect for travel. On the face of it, you might think these products are expensive, but if you think of all the products you get in the palette it's a bargain!

Charlotte Tilbury Instant Look In A Palette - Beauty Glow
Beauty Glow Palette
The beauty glow was the first palette I saw on Instagram and immediately had to have. This product was inspired by Poppy Delevingne's wedding makeup and you can see why. Really lovely, bronzey shades perfect for a natural, but glowing makeup that so many brides are looking for.

I used this palette for a wedding I attended last weekend. If it was good enough for brides, I was sure it would be good enough for a wedding guest. I found a video on the Cult Beauty website that shows Charlotte Tilbury using this product to create a makeup look. It's fair to say that she knows best, so naturally, I followed this video to the tee. The finished look was just what I was looking for, natural, glowy and defined. I really loved the mixture of the blushers, it's not something that I have done before but it looked really nice. The pop of pink on the apples of your cheeks looks really pretty.

I was totally drawn to the palette for the eyeshadow shades and the thought of the smokey eye looks that could be created. This palette is designed to create more of an evening, smokey-eyed look. But actually, I've been able to create a really natural, daytime look using just the first two eyeshadow shades. I really love how all the shades are slightly different in each palette, creating a really individual look with each palette. Also, there is definitely the prospect to be able to mix and match both palettes to create many more looks.

Both palettes look totally stunning matched with any nude lip. Keeping with the Tilbury theme, I used Penelope Pink for the wedding I attended. It really brought the look together and complemented the glowy shades. I have also matched these palettes with Tilbury's Nude Kate and MAC's Velvet Teddy - both also looking stunning.

Totally in love with these two palettes and really glad that I purchased them both. There are three palettes in the range and, just saying, it's in the sale so I may have to buy that too!!

What are your favourite Charlotte Tilbury products? I'd love to hear them in the comments.

Top Five: Drug Store Lipsticks

Top Five: Drug Store Lipsticks
Who doesn't love a good lipstick - whilst I love my Tilbury and MAC lipsticks, there are also some absolute gems in the drug store too. Drug store seems to be a bit of a Blogger/YouTuber word, so by this I mean the lipsticks you will find in places like Superdrug and Boots. I wanted to share with you my top 5, affordable lipsticks.

Rimmel Kate Nudes Lipstick - 45
Rimmel Kate Nudes Lipstick - 45
I featured Rimmel lipsticks in My Top High Street Beauty Brands post because I absolutely adore their products. At around £5, their lipsticks are so affordable, yet really high quality. This shade is a 'my lips but better' nude. It's got a really soft, creamy texture that just glides onto the lips.

Topshop Lips - Shazam
Topshop Lips - Shazam
I guess this isn't technically drugstore - but it's still affordable and high street. This colour is beyond stunning and perfect for the summer. This is a really lovely orangey-red, that looks perfect with a tan or a bronzey makeup look.

Makeup Revolution Rose Gold Lipstick - Chauffeur
At £3, this lipstick has been a fond favourite of mine for the past year or so. It is a pretty perfect dupe for MAC's Velvet Teddy too - apart from its a bit more creamy in texture and a fraction of the price. This lipstick is a perfect browny-nude, it's pretty much my go-to lipstick for any makeup look.

Rimmel Kate Moss Lipstick - 01
This lipstick has been part of my lipstick collection for as long as I can remember. It's so good, I accidentally own two - always good to have a backup though! This is the perfect shade of red for me, it's more of a deeper red than your classic red. It looks perfect paired with a neutral eye and winged eyeliner.

L'Oreal Paris Privee Colour Riche Lipstick - JLo's Nude
L'Oreal Paris Privee Colour Riche Lipstick - JLo's Nude
Can you see a pattern appearing in my love for a nude lipstick! Compared to the others, this is more of a pinky-nude. This lipstick is a nice combination of texture, not quite creamy, but also not too matte. This is a perfect lipstick for a summer daytime look.

The Body Shop Microdermabrasion: My Must Have Exfoliant

The Body Shop Glow Boosting Microdermabrasion
Summer is the season for glowing, fresh skin. With the weather getting hotter, I want my skin to be looking and feeling on point. You might have seen my blog post featuring My Summer Makeup Essentials. This product is my summer essential for making your skin summer ready.

The Body Shop Vitamin C Glow Boosting Microdermabrasion is my go to exfoliant, and has been for a number of years now. You might have seen that I featured this product in my Empties #1 post. As soon as a ran out of this product, I went straight out to buy another. I use this product twice a week to shift away any dead skin cells. These dead skin cells can leave your skin looking dull, tired and uneven - not exactly glowing summer skin. I work the product into my skin with circular motions, then removing it with warm water. After each use, I find it leaves my skin feeling so smooth - smoother than any other exfoliant I've used in the past.

Even after just one use, this product leaves the skin looking brighter and dewy. Over time, I have noticed an improvement overall in my skin. My skin tone is more even and I appear to have less bumps and blemishes. The vitamin C element makes your skin feel so fresh and revitalised.

My Summer Makeup Essentials

My Summer Makeup Essentials
I don't know about you, but summer seems to play havoc with my face and makeup. I love a summer glow, but sweaty, melting makeup is not the look that I am going for. To help combat this, I have some summer go-to products that help to keep my makeup looking fab all summer long.

L'Oreal Glam Bronze Cushion De Soleil
L'Oreal Paris Glam Bronze Cushion De Soleil
For me, cream products are perfect for the summer months. They seem to withstand the heat much better than powder products. I absolutely love this cushion bronzer from L'Oreal. It blends into the skin really well, leaving a really subtle glow on the skin. Whilst I prefer a light bronze, a deeper bronzy look can be achieved by applying more layers of the product.

The Body Shop Vitamin C Energising Face Mist
The Body Shop Vitamin C Energising Face Mist
There is nothing better than a face mist in the summer. When it's hot and your face is feeling sticky, a spritz of this leaves your skin feeling so fresh. This product can be used in a number of ways. I love to use it as a pick me up during the day over make up, as a priming spray and also as a fixing spray after applying makeup. This leaves the skill feeling really hydrated and the vitamin C gives life to tired skin.

L'Oreal Paris True Match Liquid Glow Illuminator
L'Oreal Paris True Match Liquid Glow Illuminator
This product is perfect for achieving that 'I've just been on a two week holiday' glow. My favorite foundation is Nars Sheer Glow, particularly for the dewy glow it gives the skin - see my blog post review here. To enhance this further, I love to mix a drop of this into my foundation. This is also great on its own blended into the cheekbones, nose and brow bone to give a really lovely, natural highlight.

La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo + Unifiant
La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo + Unifiant
Whilst I love my Nars Sheer Glow, when it's a very hot day foundation is just not even worth bothering with. It's like you can just feel it melting off your skin. Personally, I prefer to use a lighter product to still give me a bit of coverage. I have been loving this La Roche-Posy product to give me coverage, whilst still allowing my skin to breathe. This cream also has really great benefits for the skin like reducing imperfections and unclogging pores - resulting in a more even skin tone.

The Body Shop Shade Adjusting Drops
I have always really struggled to find the perfect shade of foundation - particularly with drug store foundations. This is then made ten times harder in the summer months where the skin is changing color depending on how tanned or not tanned you are. These shade adjusting drops have been a godsend to me. I can pretty much say I use either one of them every day when doing my make up. One drop of the lightening drops makes your foundation half a shade lighter and one drop of the darkening drops makes the foundation half a shade darker. I have also seen these drops being used for cream contouring - this isn't something I have tried, but it looks really good.

My Summer Makeup Essentials
There they are, my five summer makeup essentials. Hope you're all having a lovely summer so far.
I'd love for you to share your go-to summer makeup products with me in the comments.

Empties #2

Welcome to the second installment in my empties series - if you have no idea what I'm talking about, check out my first post here. I've got some fab products to share with you in this post, so without further ado...
L'Oreal Paris Triple Active Combination Skin Hydrator
I'm a really big fan of a lightweight moisturiser, and this is definitely one. It's really nourishing to the skin, whilst not feeling like it clogging up your pores. I was struggling with dry patches on my skin and this moisturiser really seemed to help. This also sits really well under makeup. Alongside a primer, it acts as a really lovely base for foundation.
Would I buy it again? Definitely

Kiehl's Clearly Corrective Dark Spot Solution
You might have already seen my blog post on this wonder product (if not, read it here). I cannot believe how much this little bottle has changed my skin. I was really struggling with uneven skin tone and random dry patches on my cheeks. Within the first 6 weeks of using this product, my skin had already changed so much for the better, and it just seems to have got better use after use.
Would I buy it again? One million percent yes.

Batiste Dry Shampoo - Floral
What is life without dry shampoo? I'm totally lazy with washing my hair, so dry shampoo is a godsend for me. Batiste is always my 'go-to' brand for dry shampoo, I haven't found any other brands that come close. It leaves my hair feeling so refreshed and the white colour disappears really easily with a quick brush through. This was the first time that I tried the floral scent, and I really enjoyed it.
Would I buy it again? Yes - maybe I'll try out a new scent.

L'Oreal Paris Infallible Matte Foundation
I love a long wearing foundation, so I thought this would be perfect for me. The shade match was perfect for me and it blended into the skin really well. However, I found this product was far too drying on my skin. With my dry skin issues anyway, this just made things a lot worse. That said, this product would be absolutely perfect for people who have really oily skin.
Would I buy it again? Probably not.

What have been some of the products you've been loving or hating? Let me know in the comments.
Love, Kate xx

Anatomicals Skincare Review

Anatomicals Products
Anatomicals has always been a brand that I have seen and been drawn to because of their great packaging/branding. When you see their products, you're immediately drawn to them for their witty names and bright packaging. On their website, they claim to have 'single-handedly rescued Britain from the daily grind and banned boring beauty regimes across the nation'. They are totally true - nothing about this skincare is boring.
We Never Forget A Face Memorably Good Daily Moisturiser
I'm always on the look out for a great moisturiser. For me, moisturisers have to be lightweight, there is nothing worse that a thick daily moisturiser. This product really met my standards with this. It's really lightweight and it sinks into the skin really quickly, perfect for applying makeup straight after. I really like a moisturiser with added SPF, it's so important for these sunny days and keeping your skin looking young. In addition to this, it also has co-enzyme Q10 in it, to help reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles. For me, it is never too early to use anti ageing products. Prevention is better than the cure and all that. This product claims that you will see and feel the difference in your skin in the first week. I don't really have many wrinkles, but I do have a few fine lines on my forehead. I've been using the product for a month now, and I can definitely see an improvement in these lines. The product states that it is unscented, but to me, it smells really faintly of suncream. It's really nostalgic and makes me feel like I'm on holiday. The only bugbear I have with this is the packaging, I think the pump could be made slightly different. It's really good for pumping out the exact amount of product you need, but it doesn't always work. But, I might just have got one with a bit of a fault in the packaging.

No Old Bags Allowed
I don't know about you, but some mornings I wake up and I feel that I can't even open my eyes. Even when they are open, they just feel so puffy. This has been a total saviour for this. The gel feels so cooling on the eyes, helping me to instantly feel more awake. I also really love how this product doesn't claim to target wrinkles or anything like that, just focusing on making your eyes brighter and you feel more awake. For an even more revitalising effect, I have been putting this in the fridge, so it's really cold and refreshing when it goes on your eyes.
No Old Bags Allowed

World Pore 3 Deep Cleansing Nose, Chin & Forehead Strips
World Pore 3 Deep Cleansing Nose, Chin & Forehead Strips - £7

Firstly, let's discuss this name - genius! To go ever further with this, this is how they describe the product on their website...

'World Pore 1 (1980-1985) saw the destruction of them on your nose. World Pore 2 (1996-2001) saw the destruction of them on your forehead. World Pore 3 (2009- ) now sees the annihilation of them on your chin'

I don't think I have used blackhead strips since I was a teenager, but I couldn't tell you why. I might not be a spotty teen anymore, but I still have blackheads that need combating. These strips bring back a funny memory of my Mum telling me that I couldn't get my hair cut without using one of these as she said that the hairdresser would be able to see my blackheads! She was totally right. These strips are just as I remember them, applying them to wet skin and then leaving them till they go rock hard. Then it's the eye-watering part of taking them off - but it's totally worth it. I've definitely seen an improvement in my skin after using them.
Anatomicals Products
All in all, I would totally recommend Anatomicals for their skincare. Even if you don't buy anything, just go to their website to read all the funny product names! Their website appears to be all in Euros, but they do ship to the UK. Also, so many places seem to stock their products, from ASOS to Harvey Nichols.

What are your favourite products from Anatomicals?
