What's In It For Me..? Review

When a brand markets themselves that way, how can you not want to try their products? They're also a British brand, I'm all about supporting British businesses where I can.  I was lucky enough to be asked if I wanted to try a couple of this brand's products, and I've been using them pretty much every day since.
I've been trying out the body cleanser and the body cream. The first thing I noticed was the packaging  - I really love it. It's really simplistic, but it looks so nice. I really like how you can see the product's ingredients really clearly.

Theses products smell incredible, both scents really complement each other. I generally use the body cleanser in the shower, then use the body cream as soon as I get out. If I say so myself, I end up smelling great. Even the body cleanser on its own leaves you smelling great.
Can we talk about the name of this product for a second, 'body cleanser'....doesn't that sound so luxurious? It really is as indulgent as it sounds. It's a really lovely product that lathers really well using only a couple of pumps. I used to suffer from eczema so my skin can be very sensitive to shower gels and creams. I find this really nourishing to the skin and doesnt leave it feeling dry.
The body cream is the perfect match for the cleanser. It's a really thick formula, more like a body butter, but it works into the skin really easily. My worst thing for body cream is feeling sticky after applying, but I dont get this when using this prodcut. It takes a few moments to sink in, but then you can get dressed with no sticky issues. Again, I've had no reactions from this product on my sensitive skin.

Really glad that I had the opportunity to discover this brand. I really love that blogging is opening my eyes to new brands. Head over to the Whats In It For Me..? website to see their full list of products. I'll definitely be trying more.

What are some of your favourite, smaller brands?

Kiehl's Midnight Recovery

Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Oil and Concentrate
Kiehl's just get it right every time, don't they?
I was lucky enough to get these two products for my birthday and I have been using them religiously ever since. My skin has been very thankful of this.
If you're an avid reader of my blog, you'll know that I love Kiehl's as a brand. I did a post all about my must have skin care product from Kiehl's - the Clearly Corrective Dark Spot Solution. So, when I saw the Midnight Recovery range being advertised, I knew I had to try it out.
Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Concentrate
One of the products I was desperate to try was the Midnight Recovery Botanical Cleansing Oil. Personally, I am a really big fan of oil based cleansers, much more than cream cleansers. My holy grail has always been the Emma Hardie cleansing balm, so this had a lot to live up to.
This product is an absolute dream. Never before has removing makeup been so easy. You only need a few pumps of the product to completely remove all your makeup. The oil breaks down your makeup so easily, without needing to really rub your face and eyes. I even found it was really good at removing waterproof mascara. Once the product is all worked in, and you look like your face has been melted off, I then wipe it all away with a muslin cloth - it really is so easy.
Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Concentrate
I also really wanted to get my hands on the Midnight Recovery Concentrate. This is one of Kiehl's best-selling products, and I can see why. It's a really lovely serum that I apply last as part of my evening skincare routine. I really don't get on with night creams, so this is a perfect alternative for me. Unlike some serums, it isn't too greasy. It feels really light and nourishing on the skin. This product is designed to aid your skin's recovery overnight, and I can really see the difference in my skin when I use it. I feel I don't look as tired and my skin has more of a glow to it.
Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Concentrate
These two products have been the perfect combination for me, in addition to the Clearly Corrective Dark Spot Solution, they have completely changed up my skincare routine for the better. These products have a really lovely, natural scent to them, including lavender and primrose oil. With this, I know that I am doing good for my skin, rather than filling it with lots of toxins and parabens.

If you've tried this range, let me know how you got on. I'm also looking for a great eye cream, so let me know your recommendations down below.

What a Difference a Year Makes

Printiki Images on Rope Held Up By Pegs
After writing my Blog's First Birthday post, I started reflecting on the last year in my personal life too.  What a year it has been. This time last year, I was having a bit of a wobble and thinking WTF am I doing with my life. This then prompted me writing a '30 before I'm 30' list (read all about it here). As a result of this list and the wonderful people I have around me, I have never been happier!
Printiki Image Cross Tattoo
The first thing checked off the list was getting a tattoo, this has been something that I have always wanted to do - but I've always been too much of a wimp. Just to add, it didn't even really hurt! Getting this done, then spurred me on to take more risks and put myself out of my comfort zone in other areas of my life too. Life is definitely too short spend it being too scared.
In the last year, I started dating again. Oh wow - the dating game is for sure a tricky one. In between awkward first dates and getting me heart trampled on, it's definitely been a learning curve. But I guess that is life and I'm a much stronger person for it. I've always been a really independent person, but the last year has shown me that I actually don't need a partner to be happy. Don't get me wrong, I would like to find someone special and I am still on the lookout - but I know I don't need anyone to be happy.
This quote is the quote that I live my life by. It has helped me so much over the last year, and when sh*t is hitting the fan, I find comfort in this. Good things and bad things happen for a reason, the bad things just make you a much stronger person.
My friends and family have been a crucial part of my happiness over the last year. We've been to many places and made so many lovely memories. From weddings, hen parties, house parties, nights out, festivals - it's been a fab 12 months. Many more exciting plans for this year - with baby showers been added into the mix this year too (eeeekk!).
My greatest physical achievement of the last year was running the Bath Half Marathon, I blogged my progress - see my final blog post here. If you had told me this time last year I would be running a half marathon I would have laughed at you. But I did it, and I'm not stopping there. I've entered the Bath Half for next year and I'm aiming to improve my time. I have also entered the ballot for the London Marathon....I don't know if I'm excited or terrified!!
Printiki Images
It's been so nice looking back over the last 12 months - what a 12 months it has been. Life is absolutely anything that you want to make of it. We all have a choice for the direction we go in and the experiences we have, make the most of it!

Empties #1

Empties Post Products

Hello, and welcome to my first empties post.
I'm not really sure why I've never done this before. Probably because it's really annoying remembering to keep the empties and finding somewhere to store them.
That aside, over the last few months, I've been keeping the beauty products that I have finished, to review them and say if I would repurchase them or not. So, without further ado...
Empties L'Oreal Elvive Clay Masque
L'Oreal Elvive Extraordinary Clay Masque
I am rubbish for remembering to use hair masks. I absolutely love them, but I always forget to put them on before getting into the shower. This is designed for oily roots - which mine definitely are. When I use this mask, I definitely notice the difference in my hair. The roots wouldn't get as oily as quick and it seemed to give more body and lift to my hair. I love the whole of this range - as you will see shortly.
Would I buy it again? Absolutely yes!
Empties The Body Shop Vitamin E Moisture Cream
The Body Shop Vitamin E Moisture Cream
The Body Shop always get it right, don't they! If you've been following my blog, you will have seen that I have been struggling with my skin over the last 6 months,  read a bit more about it here. So, for me, it has been really important to be using products that are really nourishing to my skin. This moisturiser has been perfect. It's really lightweight on the skin, so it doesn't feel like it is clogging up your pores. It works brilliantly underneath makeup, giving a really good base to work on top of. I'm using another moisturiser at the moment that just isn't as good compared to this.
Would I buy it again? For sure
Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water
I see micellar water as a product I will use when I am feeling lazy. It definitely isn't something that I would use solely to take my make up off. With them, I do feel that you are just smearing your makeup all around your face rather than having a proper cleanse. That said, I have seen Suzie from Hello October use this to take her makeup off prior to cleansing to save her muslin cloths getting really grubby - something which I really hate. So, I may give this a try with the L'Oreal Micellar water that I currently have.
Would I buy it again? Maybe, but I don't see much difference in the drug store micellar waters.
Empties The Body Shop Microdermabrasion
The Body Shop Vitamin C Microdermabrasion
I feel I have some explaining to do with this. Yes, you are right in thinking the packaging on this product doesn't look like that anymore. It's old school. It's a product that I absolutely loved, when I moved out of my place in Bristol it somehow got misplaced, then I rediscovered it. Before someone starts, yes I know it was probably really old and I shouldn't have been putting anywhere near my face, but I loved it too much. It's probably the best face exfoliant that I have ever used. I can't describe to use how baby soft your skin feels after using this. The vitamin C really brightens your complexion, leaving you with a lovely glow.
Would I buy it again? 100%
Empties Clarins Smoothing Body Scrub For a New Skin
Clarins Smoothing Body Scrub For a New Skin
I got this body scrub as a sample when I bought a couple of other Clarins products - don't you just love that they do that. The exfoliant is really luxurious. It a really finely milled product that exfoliates really, really well. My body feels so soft and nourished after using it. It's a fantastic product, but for £30, I'm not sure I can justify that for an exfoliant.
Would I buy it again? Probably not - drug store scrubs can be equally as good.

Empties L'Oreal Elvive Extraordinary Clan Re-Balancing Shampoo
L'Oreal Elvive Extraordinary Clan Re-Balancing Shampoo
Firstly, does anyone else find their shampoo always runs out before the conditioner, so annoying. When I heard about this range it was a dream for me. They are made for my exact hair type, oily roots and dry ends. I did a first impressions post on these products and I am still feeling exactly the same - totally in love. Like the mask, it leaves my hair feeling nourished, whilst giving my lift and volume.
Would I buy it again? Definitely

Emma Hardie Amazing Face Cleansing Balm
So, the photo for this product for this corrupted and I don't have the product to re-shoot #bloggerproblems. But you all know what this product looks like. This has been my holy grail product for months now. I've repurchased this three times I love it that much. I've been taking a little bit of a break from it and trying out alternative cleansers, but I am missing it. I think it will always have a space in my bathroom cabinet.
Would I buy it again? Not right now - but definitely in the future.

There it is, my first empties post. The first of many I hope.
What have been the products you've been loving or hating? Let me know in the comments.
Love, Kate xx
