Kate Morgan Cecilia: Blog's First Birthday

Today is my blog's 1st birthday! Happy Birthday, Kate Morgan Cecilia!
A year ago, on a rainy bank holiday Monday, I decided to take the plunge and start a blog. I wrote my first introductory post and that was it, I had a blog.
I can't quite believe its already been a year, it's gone so quickly. So much has happened in the last year, blog events, working with brands - all things that I never would have imagined would happen. The blogging community is incredible, I have met some lovely and supportive bloggers along the way and I am so grateful to every single one for their support and advice.
One thing I have found difficult in the past year is trying not to compare my blog's progress to other peoples, comparing followers or brands they are working with. It just isn't even worth it and it achieves nothing. We're all on our own unique journey in the blogging world. To say that I have a full-time job, a busy social life and that I am without my phone for 9 hours a day - I think I'm doing pretty damn good.
That said, I do want to focus more attention on my blog in the next year, to really take it to the next level. I want to keep improving my photography, plan posts further in advance and to have more of a presence on social media. I also want to to be able to share my blog more. I'm still so scared of anyone finding out about it, but I know I shouldn't be afraid of this - I should be proud of all the really hard work that I put into this.
To celebrate my first year, I've taken a bit of a trip down memory lane - reflecting on my favourite posts and images from the last 12 months. Printiki kindly printed all these images for me, perfect for me to remember my first year of blogging. Printiki is an image printing service, allowing you to print your memories from your Instagram and Facebook which is so handy. They also have a variety of other ways that you can upload or access your photos.
I chose the 'square M' style to print my images, but they have many more options - including really cute polaroid style prints. Check out their Instagram, they have some beautiful images on there. If you're thinking of ordering some images, enter my code to get free delivery. The code you need is GGTCN2AG.
So here is to the next year and all the years after that. Who knows that the next year will bring, but I'm looking forward to it.
Love, Kate xx

NARS Sheer Glow - Why It's My New Favourite

NARS Sheer Glow is a blogger 'ride or die' product. So, to say I had never tried this product made me feel like a fake and a phony. I couldn't deal with being a phony. So one Saturday afternoon, when walking past Space NK in Bath, I went in for a browse and came out with this product in my hand.

The ladies in Space NK were so helpful, they colour matched me and found me the perfect shade - Deauville. This shade couldn't be more perfect for me, it more yellow toned which really suits my natural skin colour. I rushed home and tried this product as soon as I got home. Well, after taking product photos of course - you know how it is!
I found his foundation a dream to use. It's a medium coverage foundation, with the ability to build to full coverage with a second application. It kind of says it on the tin, but it gives the skin a dewy glow - perfect for the summer (if we ever get one!)
To apply, I used a damp beauty blender. This gave me a really even and natural finish. However, I've just seen on the NARS website they recommend working the product into the palm of your hand before using your fingertips to press the foundation into the skin. They said the warmth of the hands and fingers helps to blend the foundation for a natural finish. I'll definitely be trying this method of application.
So, there it is, another product ticked off the beauty wishlist. A very happy customer indeed.

Natural Haircare Routine

Over the last few years, there has been more and more emphasis put on natural products. It was never something I really cared about until I actually started to think about all the nasty ingredients that can be in some skincare and haircare products.

I had the opportunity to meet the people from Natural World at the BlogConLDN event. They pride themselves on making products with naturally derived ingredients from around the world. Their products are made with 95% natural ingredients. Their products are free from parabens, phosphates, phthalates, dyes and gluten - all things that really aren't great for your body or the environment.
The team from Natural World were kind enough to send me their Chia Seed range to try out. I was so intrigued by this range - chia seeds seem to be all the range for your cooking, but for your hair?! I had to try it out for myself. Apparently, chia seeds are great for adding strength and volume to hair, whilst also leaving it looking shiny and feeling soft.
If you've you've been reading my blog for a while, you'll know about my quest for voluminous hair. This makes me a sucker for anything that promises to give my hair volume and shine - hence my interest in this product.
I have been using these products for the last 6 weeks, using the shampoo and conditioner then applying the oil to towel dried hair. When using the shampoo, I noticed that I needed to use a lot more of the product than I normally would to get a good lather. I guessed this was probably to do with the product being natural and there being nothing artificial to create the lather - so I'll take that.
The products have four essential oils - rosemary, lemongrass, orange, and ylang-ylang -  which leaves your hair smelling really great. For the best results, I found using all three products together was the best. The shampoo and conditioner on their own could leave the ends of my hair feeling slightly dry, but this was completely gone when I used the oil.
In terms of the volume, my hair was left feeling really light and voluminous - not weighed down like some products can. If you're looking to make a shift to more natural products, whilst skill looking for volume and shine, I would really recommend this range.
What are your favourite natural beauty products?

My Must Have Skincare Product: Kiehl's Clearly Corrective Dark Spot Solution

I've been using the Kiehl's Clearly Corrective Dark Spot Solution for the last 6 weeks and I can honestly say it has been a game changer for my skin. You might have seen from previous blog posts I have been really struggling with my skin over the last few months. Before this, I have always been really lucky with my skin. The only thing I ready had to worry about was a bit of oiliness and hormonal breakouts every now and then. So, for me, it was a huge shock to go from liking my skin to hating it.
I was suffering with severe dryness which created pretty unsightly red patches. I was used to my skin being predominantly oily, so this was a new world for me. My skin was so red and irritated and foundation was only making this worse. I felt like I had tried everything, from changing moisturisers, cleansers and my foundation - nothing was working.
One day I was watching Amelia Liana's YouTube video about her acne story - not expecting to find any help for my skin. She mentioned how the Clearly Corrective product helped to even out her skin tone, particularly with regards to her acne scarring. I knew I had to try this for myself.
For the last 6 weeks, I have been putting this serum on my face both morning and evening. A little goes a long way with this product, so you only have to use a couple of drops. I have been trying to get into a proper routine of using this to get the most out of the product. As a result, I think I have got the best results I could.
I have been blown away by the difference in my skin. The dryness has completely gone. My skin tone has been completely evened out, even imperfections that I wasn't too concerned with, leaving no redness in sight. The general appearance of my skin is so much better, looking healthier and more glowy. The bottle retails at £37, so it isn't the cheapest product, but for the results it's given me, I feel its worth every penny. Also, considering the small amount you need to use each application, I reckon the bottle will last you a long time.
I would hugely recommend this product to anyone who is having similar skin issues. If in doubt, the staff in Kiehl's are always so lovely and willing to help out.
What skincare product can you not live without? Let me know in the comments below.
Love, Kate xx
