Merumaya Melting Cleansing Balm Review

I had the pleasure of meeting the Merumaya team at #BlogConLND this year, see my post all about that hereI got to speak to Maleka Dattu, Founder & Creator of the brand. She was so passionate about the brand and her products. My favourite thing was the brand ethos. It all about celebrating women and men for who they are, the beauty they already have, rather than focussing on changing people's flaws and imperfections. Merumaya also focus on celebrating ageing and emphasising that there is no shame in ageing or taking measures to prevent ageing. I absolutely love it!

I was given a sample of the Cleansing Balm to try at the event. Maleka put the product on the back of our hands and got us to test it out during the event. The main thing I noticed was how soft it left the skin on my hand. At this point, I was very excited to try it out when I got home.

Since the event, I have been trying out this product and the overall verdict is I love it! The product is a balm-like consistency, somewhere between a cream and a solid oil cleanser. It works into the face really well, breaking down your makeup. They named it right when they said melting, it really does melt the makeup away. When you add water to the product, it turns it into a more milky/oil like consistency, which really helps to keep breaking down the makeup. I then finish by wiping all the product and makeup away with a face cloth. My skin was left feeling soft and nourished. It also did a really good job at removing all my makeup. The only issue I found was I didn't know if it could be used with eye makeup or not - so I haven't been using it on my eyes. Better to be safe than sorry.

In terms of its ingredients, it contains Echium Oil - a source of Omega 3 which helps to reduce wrinkles, sweet almond oil - rich in vitamin E to hydrate and mangosteen fruit extracts - which is an antioxidant and has antibacterial properties. Lovely natural ingredients, containing no parabens or paraffins.

Overall, I have really loved this product, so much so I have now completely run out! The product has been fantastic, but for me, the brand ethos is even more amazing. I'll definitely be checking out other products from Merumaya and putting them to the test too.
Have you tried anything from Merumaya before? What are your recommendations?

Real Techniques MultiTech Collection

Anyone who knows me will know that I have a slight obsession with makeup brushes. I know that I have a problem, but I just can't stop myself when I see a new range of brushes - especially Real Techniques ones. Sam and Nic are going to bankrupt me one day if they don't stop releasing new makeup brushes (I'm totally joking ladies - please never, ever stop). So, when I saw the lovely MegSays do a review on these, I had to get my hands on them.
I headed to Superdrug to purchase these, I believe this range is exclusive to Superdrug. When I got them, there was a 'third off' offer on which made me feel so much better about buying them! I don't think this offer is still on, but Superdrug currently has a '3 for 2' offer on where brushes are included.
I purchased one of the Large Point brushes, this style comes in L and XL. As you may have guessed, this size signifies the size of the brush head. I really love this for contouring. The brush has a tapered edge which sits really nicely under the cheekbone to contour. I have found this brush is also perfect for sweeping bronzer all over the face, or to be used with blush. It really is a versatile sized brush. For me personally, I wouldn't use it for powder, I prefer a bigger brush head for that. But, that doesn't mean to say it wouldn't work.
I also got my hands on the Small Point Makeup Brush Set. Eye makeup brushes are where I am really lacking in my collection. Face brushes, loads of them. But brushes for my eyes are always something I seem to forget about. Normally, I will avoid brush sets. You always seem to be left with a couple of brushes you don't use, which seems like a waste of money to me. But with this set, I could really see a use for them all.
I love the point S brush for sweeping a base colour all over my lid. It's a lovely, soft brush that also works really well as a blending brush. The point XS is perfect for the crease. I love to put Hoola bronzer in my crease for a really simple eye look, this brush is perfect for that. The point XXS brush is perfect for adding colour to the lower lash line - this is something I always forget to do, but it really brings together an eye look. Finally, the point XXXS would be perfect for brows or liner. Also, it would also work really well as a lip brush as it has a fine, tapered head. The cutest thing about this brush set is that comes with a metal holder, I love that attention to detail.
What are some of your brush must haves? I'd love to know, anything to feed my brush habit some more!
Love, Kate xx
