Blogtember: Blog Tips I Have Learnt

Since I started my blog in May, I feel I have learnt so much already. So, I wanted to share some of this knowledge with you guys. If you have any more tips for me, I would be more grateful to hear them.

Twitter chats are the best. Not only for building your following but also because they have the best people in them. The blogging community has some of the nicest people, most of whom can be found in Twitter chats. I sometimes don't get involved with as many chats as I would like to - but I love them when I do.

Wallpaper makes the best backgrounds for flatlays. Who would have known it? This was a tip I got from another blogger and I shared in my 'How I Take Blog Pictures' post. It blew my mind when I first heard it, now I wouldn't use anything else.

Planning is key. I have learnt that for me to have any routine with blogging I need to be well prepared. I admire the people who can write a post on the day they publish it - this just isn't me. Just to add a bit of context, I am writing this 2 weeks before it will be published. I don't know if it is part of my personality, but blogging and organisation go hand in hand for me.

My blogger's journal has saved my life. This kind of goes with me liking to be organised. I have the journal from paperchase (linked here). I am obsessed with it. I love to write my goals, plan ideas for posts and plan my schedule for the month. It really is a life saver.

Blogger events are also the best. I attended my first one this month and I had the best time. It was so nice to meet people in real life and speak to lots of amazing brands. See my full blog post here.

Blogger stats lie. Ok, 'lie' is a strong word, more like they aren't giving you the full picture. When I changed to Google Analytics I was devastated. I realised my blog didn't have anywhere near the readers that I thought. But I am glad I know this now, especially before I started giving a false impression of my blog to brands.

Scheduling tweets is a lifesaver. I don't have my phone during work hours, so this is an absolute necessity for me. But, even if I did have my phone, I really like the ease of being able to schedule them for the day and not have to worry about promoting my blog. It also gives me more time to tweet about other things and choose an appropriate GIF!

Twitter pages that retweet bloggers are genius. Especially for someone like me who doesn't have a large following. A retweet from one of these pages really opens up my potential readership. My favourite one to use is #bloggersblast, I have found these are the most consistent at retweeting.

What are your blogging tips?
Love, Kate xx
