Blogtember: 30 Before I'm 30

This year I turned 25. Two weeks prior to this, my partner of four years ended our relationship.  I thought I would be spending the rest of my life with him, we lived together and (so I thought) we were happy. My 25th birthday was mixed. I had a lovely day, but in the back of my mind I was thinking I didn't expect to be turning 25 single. Now before, you starting thinking '25 is so young still', I know this. I am young and I have my whole life ahead of me....my plan just went a little bit off course.

So, that's the back story done with. Four months later I am here, in a better place and looking to the future. Because 'everything happens for a reason'. So, I wanted to write down a list of 30 things that I want to complete before I turn 30...

1. Get a tattoo - I have always wanted one. I already know what I want, I just have never had the guts to do it.
2. Go back to Australia - I had the most amazing holiday in Australia last year, but I didn't get to see anywhere near enough of the country.
3. Dye my hair - I have made it to the ripe old age of 25 without ever dying my hair.
4. Start doing a sport - I'm not sure what, maybe it's the Olympics that's inspired me.
5. Go to a full moon party in Thailand - and just generally visit Thailand.
6. Take a risk - I want to do something that will scare me. I walked across the top of the Sydney Harbour Bridge last year, I was so scared, but it was incredible.
7. Read more - I don't make enough time to read.
8. Have more body confidence - I hear this comes as you get older anyway, but there is no harm in me changing my attitude too.
9. To go back to New York - the last time I went I was 16, so I wasn't really at the age to experience the city fully.
10. To run a half marathon - you may have seen my recent post about me signing up to the Bath Half-Marathon. I was always bad at running at school and as an adult, I can barely run down the road. So what better way to change this than signing up to a half marathon (eek!)
11. To learn some basic DIY - this all adds to me be being a fabulous, independent woman!
12. To give blood - I hate needles, this is why I have never done it before. But the benefits of giving blood are so much more than a little needle (I need to keep telling myself this!)
13. To have my fortune read - I'm not sure how much I believe in this, but I'm so intrigued.
14. To get a piercing - I only have my ears pierced once, it's just not good enough.
15. Eat sushi - I can hear the shrieks now 'How has she never eaten sushi', I don't really know either. The idea of it has always freaked me out.
16. Go on a hike - I'm not talking about Everest/Kilimanjaro, but maybe like the 3 Peaks in North Yorkshire or something.
17. Go on a roller coaster which turns upside down - Right, I know this sounds random - bare with me. If you have seen my TMI post, you will know I have an irrational fear of anything that could potentially kill me. This has stopped me doing silly things like going on roller coasters. I'm ready to make a change!
18. Velocity Zip Line in Wales - continuing with the fear thing, this is Europe's longest and the world's fastest zip line (eek!)
19. To go to Vegas - I have never been, but I have always wanted to. I'll try not to get married by Elvis in a chapel.
20. Do a skydive - I have always wanted to do this, but I have always let my fears get in the way.
21. Stop holding grudges - it's an awful habit of mine that I really want to break.
22. To learn how to surf - when I was 16, I went to Newquay with my friends and took surf lessons. I was terrible at it, so I think it's time to give it another go.
23. Cook my way though a cookbook - I have so many cookbooks which I only cook a handful of recipes from. I think this will be fun and it will push me to try new foods.
24. Fire a gun - So, I'm not off to buy my own gun or anything. I was thinking more like clay pigeon shooting.
25. Have a weekend in Paris - I want the works, the Eiffel Tower, berets, cheese, wine...
26. Volunteer - I used to volunteer all the time at Uni, but I knew that I was doing this to help my CV. I want to volunteer to fully help others, not for any personal gain.
27. Be in the audience of a TV show - 'cause why not - just not Jeremy Kyle!
28. Treat myself to a meal in a very expensive restaurant - maybe one of those places with 7 courses, yum!
29. To be still blogging on my 30th birthday - blog life is too much fun to ever want to stop.
30. Start writing a 40 before I'm 40 list!!

I would love to hear any of your suggestions for things I can do before I am 30.

Love, Kate xx

  1. Watch the sunrise over the sea, it's beautiful. We are the sum of our experiences.

    1. Ahhh, that's a really lovely idea!! I totally agree that we are the sum of our experiences, so we need to make the most of every single one 💜
